CHARLIE NEARBURG TO TAKE ON WSC DRIVERS AT SEBRING

DALLAS, Texas (March 12) - - Atlantic veteran Charlie Nearburg will drive the Downing/Atlanta 3 rotor Kudza Mazda DLM World SportsCar in the 1997 Exxon Superflo 12 Hours of Sebring on March 15. Nearburg is building on his success last year at the Sebring race when he drove the Oceanshore Porsche 935 to 10th place overall. "I'm excited to be driving a competitive WSC car fielded by a high-caliber organization like Downing/Atlanta," said Nearburg. "This car finished fourth place overall at Sebring in 1996 and won its class at Le Mans, so I know the team can successfully compete and win. I look forward to racing wheel-to-wheel in this exciting series and appreciate the opportunity to be part of Jim Downing's team." Nearburg, who finished fourth in the 1996 Atlantic finale at Laguna Seca, has been a consistent front-runner in the Atlantic championship, the Bosch Super Vee series, and placed ninth in his Trans Am debut at Dallas, Texas, last year. He will contest several rounds of the KOOL/TOYOTA Atlantic Championship this year and is pursuing driving opportunities in various domestic and international auto racing series. Nearburg has successfully competed and shared the podium with notable drivers such as PPG CART champion Jimmy Vasser and Formula One star Jacque Villeneuve.
