Dana Moore set two track records this year at Sebring, Fl. And Road Atlanta, GA.She started on the pole in the Road Atlanta race and qualified in the top seven in all of the series events. "It was a hard fought year with many ups and downs. I would qualify well and have great starts and then something would go wrong." There are so many factors to winning in racing, and they all have to come together on the same day." said Moore, as she reflected on the season. Dana finished the season finale in Las Vegas with a very hard fought fifth place. Veteran driver Audrey Zavodsky kept the pressure on Dana the entire race. Dana defended her position so well that it made the Panoz organization that much more confident about which driver deserved the rookie of the year award.
The award was handed out at an end of the year banquet held at Race Rock Restaurant in Las Vegas. Don Panoz (founder of the series) gave thanks and admiration to all the women drivers. Cindi Lux (last years champion) passed the honors over to Sonja Bayer who took the 2000 season championship. Divina Galica took second for the second year in a row. Belinda Endress was last years rookie of the year who took third in the points championship this year.
Dana Moore is already anxious for next season. She feels confident that she can be next years champion. "The award I got this year was a great honor. But now I look forward to next year and want to bring home the big trophy."
