MARCELLI WINS RACE; FEINBERG CAPTURES LITES ONE CHAMPIONSHIP

BRASELTON, Ga. September 24 -- Kyle Marcelli picked up where he left off at Mosport winning his second consecutive IMSA Lites presented by Frisby Performance Tire race at Road Atlanta.

While Marcelli, who started fifth, was making his way to the front of the pack, Joel Feinberg had his problems, but managed a sixth place finish, which was high enough to secure the Lites One championship.

"It's a very bittersweet moment for me right now. I don't think it's even set in that I've won the championship," Feinberg explained. "We miscalculated on fuel. With about six laps to go I got passed like I was standing still coming out of turn one because the car just stalled. I'm pretty disappointed with the race, but very happy with the season and the championship."

Marcelli showed no signs of trouble, passing one car after another making his way into the lead. Following close behind him was Tom Drewer and Antonio Downs. Drewer, the 2008 IMSA Lites Two champion, finished second, scoring his first podium of the season.

"It's been a whole year coming," Drewer said. "This really means a lot to me. There are a lot of people back home in Australia supporting me. It means the world that they give up their hard earned so I can follow my dreams."

Racing in his first-ever IMSA Lites race, Carlos Llana scored a victory in the Lites Two class. Llana led early on, but was passed by Robert Sabato on lap three. The two raced hard until Sabato came into the pits half way through the race.

"This is my first time in this car. I really enjoy it," Llana said. "This is a new challenge for me, in prototypes. I think it will take a couple more tests to find the limits of the car. I'm enjoying it a lot."

Chris Funk and Kelly Toombs battled for the Lites Three top spot, with Funk winning out in the end.

The final round of the 2009 IMSA Lites series takes place tomorrow afternoon at 12:10 p.m. The IMSA

Lites presented by Frisby Performance Tire is a championship comprised of 14 rounds at seven famous tracks in North America including Sebring International Raceway, Sebring, Fla., and Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wis.
