GORING, DREWER AND FUNK WIN AT MOSPORT

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario. August 23 -- Jonathan Goring, Torrington, Conn., led from flag to flag in the 30-minute IMSA Lites presented by Hankook race at Mosport International Raceway, a 10-turn, 2.5-mile course outside of Toronto.

Goring pulled away from second place Joel Feinberg, eventually winning by 29 seconds. Lucas Downs finished third. Tom Drewer extended his point lead in the Lites Two class, winning his sixth race of the year. West Race Cars teammate Eric Vassian didn't let Drewer out of his site the entire race.

"I got a few gaps saying that Eric might be closing a bit. I was just managing the race from where I was," Drewer said. "Another pole position, another race win, more points and this is Canada. I love it."

Chris Funk, the Lites Three race winner and point leader, shares Drewer's enthusiasm for Mosport.

"I've been racing here for 16 years. This is certainly in my top five favorite tracks," Funk said after the race. "You absolutely have to pay attention and respect this track." Goring, who considers Mosport his favorite track, set a new race lap record on his way to victory. His fast time of 1:16.556 would place him ahead of the GT2 field on the American LeMans Series gird.

The IMSA Lites presented by Hankook races all 12 rounds with the ALMS. The green flag will fall on round eight tomorrow at 9:15 a.m.
