Road America Podiums for Carlisle and McCrackin in Patron GT3 Challenge
Fanbacher Loles Racing drivers Darrell Carlisle and Ben McCrackin each earned a second place finish in their respective classes today in Round 7 of the Patron GT3 Challenge at the dauntingly quick Road America Road Course in Elkhart Lake, WI.
Veteran GT3 Cup driver, Darrell Carlisle of McLean, VA, qualified his #40 Farnbacher Loles Racing Porsche GT3 in forth place in the Platinum Class, quickly moved into the lead on the first lap and fought throughout the race with pole sitter Bob Faieta in the #4 GT3 Cup. Faieta, would eventually get back by to take the lead and go on for the win. Carlisle finished the race with a hard-earned second place scoring his first podium finish in the series since 2006.
"It's been a long time. We've had some strong finishes but this is my first podium in the series since Road Atlanta in 2006, and the first in the 997," Carlisle said. "It was a tough race. But Road America is a fast track, which is what I prefer. It's such a fabulous race weekend with all the fans here, too. Great fans. The Farnbacher Loles crew did a fantastic job with the car. It has been flawless and perfect all weekend. We've been fighting hard all year, but just missing the podium. It's great to get this finish for the crew as well."
In the Gold Class, Ben McCrackin of Corpus Christi, Texas, qualified his #81 Farnbacher Loles Racing Porsche GT3 in second place. In only his third start of the season, Ben held his second position all the way to the checkered flag, earning himself and Farnbacher Loles Racing their second podium finish of the day. This race result is McCrackin's second podium finish of the year, his first coming at the Sebring round to open the season.
Farnbacher Loles Team Principle, Gregory Loles was very pleased with the performance of his Patron GT3 Challenge Team. "Everyone on the #40 and #81 car has put a tremendous amount of work into making this team successful," Loles said. "Ben and Darrell both drove great races, and we're very proud of our double podiums today."
