Pirelli flew in a load of extra sticky tires because of the low temperatues in Daytona this weekend. This means that the tires will have to be changed on each fuel stop.

More hard luck for Craig T. Nelson and the Screaming Eagles Team. Margie Smith Haas was entering the pits when she was struck broadside by the #15 Cutless Supreme. The Cutless was launched over the 44 car leaving marks on the rollbar. Margie Smith Haas was lucky to escape uninjured. The car was retired.

With over 70 cars starting the race, traffic is a big problem. When asked if he had any scary moments, Tommy Kendall responded "Only about two a lap".

Canaska racing has entered a Winston Cup Stock car in the race. This is the first WC car to be run in the 24 hour race. Canaska Racing won the Toyota Atlantic championship in 1993. They will contest the Indy Lights series this season with Jeff Andretti.

Tasman Motorsports will test their new Reynard/Honda this week in Phoenix.
