Chris Green - Canadian Porsche GT3 Cup champion

The Montreal-born competitor began racing at the tender age of nine in karting. Over the years, he has accumulated multiple regional and national karting championships.

In 2000, Green captured the Canadian Formula A Championship and, a year later, he was crowned the Canadian ICA and Formula A Champion. He then switched to car racing, making his debut in the Quebec-based Formula 1600 championship.

In 2003, he competed in the Barber Dodge Pro Series in the U.S. He entered eight races, and claimed 11th place in the final standings.

Racing with Porsche was the next logical step, as Chris’ father Ron specialized in preparing street and race cars of the famed German brand.

So in 2012, the young Green stepped up to the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin with SCB Racing. He won four races that year to finish fifth in the point standings.

Green really found his groove the following season with Alegra Motorsport, racking up five wins, eight podiums, seven poles and various track records on his way to a runner-up spot in the championship.

In 2014, the Canadian collected a further two wins and 9 podiums to once again rank second in the final standings.

A new approach

Patience made the difference in 2015, as Green secured the title last year with two victories and nine podium finishes, in ten races with Pfaff Motorsport. “It’s been a very difficult season for me, in terms of not going out and having to do the ultimate best lap, not going out and having to fight for the win every single time and actually just sitting back and saying, ‘You know what? We’re going to accept third today; we’re going to accept second today and let the other guys kind of do their thing”, Green declared. “And if in any way they were a threat or a danger of taking me out, then it was just a question of moving over and saying, ‘You go by. I’m going to come home and bring this home on the podium.”

Green also told Motorsport.com that his plans for 2016 are not finalized yet. “Without plans officially announced or 100% concrete for 2016, we will be back on track running in various series both sides of the border”, he said. “I can’t be more excited to announce what is in store for myself and Pfaff motorsports in the next month or so but I definitely look forward to getting back behind the wheel.”
