February 9 - Todd Parrott, NASCAR crew chief, born (1964).

- Hans-Joachim Stuck dies of natural causes (1978).

February 10 - "Grandpa" Eddie Hearne, Indy 500 racer and vaudeville tap dancer, dies (1955).

- Marshall Teague sets an unofficial closed course speed record of 171.821 mph (1959).

February 11 - Fred Offenhauser, of Offenhauser engine fame, born in Los Angeles, California (1888).

- Motorcycle and F1 World Champion John Surtees born (1934).

- Neil Bonnett dies in testing crash at Daytona, Florida (1994).

- Marshall Teague drives a Hudson Hornet to victory in a NASCAR race on beach in Daytona, Florida (1951).

February 12 - Bill France Sr. calls Tom Rhodes, Public Relations Director for Hudson, to tell him of Marshall Teague's Daytona win (see previous entry) in an attempt to get Hudsun directly involved in NASCAR racing (1951).

- Ralph DePalma drives a Packard to a World Land Speed Record of 149.875 mph (1919).

February 13 - Jim Crawford, Indianapolis 500 racer, born (1948).

February 14 - Junior Johnson wins the second Daytona 500 by being the first stockcar driver to exploit "drafting" (1960).

- Scott Sharp born (1968).
