Len Sutton wins his third (and last) USAC Championship race, at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, in a Salemi & Rini Watson roadster. Also the last win for an Andy Dunlap prepared car (1960).

Tommy Kendall wins the Mosport Park 500 Trans-Am race at Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, for his record 11th straight Trans-Am win (1997).
