Little Valley Speedway plans open cockpit reunion.

Reprising an event held last season for the first time, when driving legends of the past were honored at the speedway, promoter Gary Montgomery announces that on Friday, June 14th , Little Valley Speedway will hold the Open Cockpit Reunion in conjunction with the racing program for the evening. Mongomery states, "I plan to build on the program that Lou Ensworth and Wayne Reed organized at the speedway last year. I am working with Lou, Wayne, the FOAR Score Fan Club, and others to promote this event and make it an annual affair. To help set the spirit of the evening I have arranged for several antique open cockpit cars to be on display. John Pennell will bring a 1931 big car, a 1946 midget, and a 1960's sprinter from his collection. Jon Button will bring the former Jimmy Carroll big car and a 1950's midget; also Mike Seiver will bring his 1960's sprinter."

A number of local racing legends are being contacted, but Montgomery has extended an open invitation to anyone who raced open wheel events at Little Valley or at other tracks in Western New York in the 40s, 50s, or 60s. In addition anyone with an antique open cockpit race car is invited to display his or her car on this nostalgic evening. If you are a driver who fits the qualifications or you own an antique open wheel racer, feel free to contact Mongomery at 315-536-3728 or gjmonty@msn.com for more information.

Along with the drivers of the past being honored by the speedway which will also include free admission for themselves and a guest, the participants and their fans will be able to reminisce about former glory while perusing the machines that were the forerunners of today's highly sophisticated racing machines.

Everyone will also enjoy the race program on that evening, which will feature the ESS 360 sprint cars, featuring seven time champion Mike Woodring and his new teammate, Erin Crocker, plus the Super Stocks racing for $1,000 to win, the Street Stocks racing for $500 to win, and the always popular School Buses.

The show is the second event of the impressive eight race specials-only schedule at the only true half mile dirt oval in the area, located at the Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds on Rt. 353 in Little Valley, New York. For more information please call the track at 716-938-9146, the promoter, Gary Montgomery, at the above number, or visit our website at www.littlevalleyspeedway.com.
