KNOXVILLE, IOWA (MAY 24, 2001) - Altoona attorney and local motorsports historian Larry Ball, Jr., will present a ninety-minute presentation on the history of the Des Moines Board Track this Saturday afternoon at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville. The presentation, to take place at 3 p.m. on the second floor, is the latest in a series of historical forums being offered by the non-profit museum foundation on the last Saturday of each month. Larry has spent considerable time and effort in recent years researching the history of the all- wood auto race track which was only active in 1915 and '16 in the district currently known as Valley Junction. Anyone seeking more information on the presentation can access Larry's web-site at www.boardtrack.com, or call the museum at 641-842-6176.

Prior to the presentation, the museum will also be hosting a classic car show in its parking lot from 12 noon until 3 p.m. The show-and-shine will feature thirty vintage automobiles and it is being held in conjunction with the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce's series of "Saturday Socials". The show is also free and open to the public.
