A VERY SPECIAL EVENT:
THE 18TH ANNUAL LITERATURE FAIRE & EXCHANGE
PRESENTED BY THE SOCIETY OF AUTOMOTIVE HISTORIANS TO BENEFIT THEIR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS.
THE LARGEST GATHERING OF ITS KIND HELD ANYWHERE IN THE U.S.
Aisle upon aisle of books, photos, posters, videos, programs, press kits, advertising materials, car toys, hood mascots, wolf whistles, bumper stickers, car badges, window decals, paintings, drawings, and other related "auto-memorabilia" all conveniently located in Irwindale Speedway's giant VIP parking lot … The perfect venue for this time-honored annual event.
There'll be 175+ vendor booths and displays, a special parking lot for classic cars, nearby IS concession stands offering food, drink, and IS souvenirs … And plenty of free parking (over 3,000 spaces).
13300 Live Oak Avenue, Irwindale (Live Oak at the 605 Freeway). Enter off Live Oak on Speedway Drive, turn left into parking area.
Sunday, June 25th from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission to this wonderful marketplace of automotive interest is free as is the parking. No cars (nor large greasy parts) will be on sale, but the flame of automotive nostalgia will burn very brightly in row upon row of exceedingly interesting items from the 100+ year history of the automobile.
Get there early (hot coffee will be available at the concession building). Bring something to carry off your treasures in (a woven shopping bag?, a child's wagon?, a pickup truck?), Wear your most comfortable walking-around shoes, and loose clothing (the event is "al fresco"), slather on the sun-block, get some rest the night before, drink plenty of water during the day, and … Just enjoy the heck out of this rather remarkable celebration of automotive literature.
If you are any kind of a car nut be prepared to be swept back to the glory days at every turn of an aisle at Irwindale. This is some serious stuff if you are a car buff.
