2003 Falken Tire Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Revs it up for the 81st running of the Race to the clouds

Colorado Springs, CO, June 11, 2003 - Fasten you seat belts for another thrilling, wild side ride on America's mountain - Pikes Peak, for the 81st annual Race to the Clouds set for Saturday, June 28th, 2003.

Revving up the 2003 Falken Tire Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is the new and exciting Pikes Peak SpeedWeek 2003 kicking off Race Week events on Monday, June 23rd, beginning at 9:00 a.m., with the Technical Inspection be staged this year at the Colorado Springs World Arena. Additional SpeedWeek activities include car displays and motorsports expo, drivers, and autographs, climbing wall, kids pit and more!

Pikes Peak SpeedWeek 2003 runs from Monday, June 23 through Friday, July 4th, with a flurry of activities designed to promote motorsports in the Pikes Peak Region. Two of the community's cornerstone motorsports events - The Falken Tire Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and the USAC Series Races at Pikes Peaks International Raceway - are the main ingredients behind SpeedWeek. The new event includes the Falken Tire PPIHC Tech inspections at the World Arena; a carnival and celebration downtown; a soap box classic; a golf tournament and silent auction to benefit local charities and PPIHC, and the PPIR USAC Rocky Mountain Classic with fireworks, concerts, car show and more. Pikes Peak SpeedWeek receives ongoing support from the Colorado Springs World Arena and El Pomar Foundation, whose founder, Spencer Penrose, established the Hill Climb race in 1916. Falken Tire Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

No other race compares to the thrill and challenge of brushing the edges of cliffs with speed and true grit. The Falken Tire Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is truly one of the most fun and spectacular international motor sports events. Race fans line the 12.42- mile gravel and blue grooved racecourse from the start line to the breathtaking 14,110 ft. summit of Pikes Peak.
