Hillclimb competitor Todd Libhart killed, AMA releases statement

The Hillclimb community has suffered their second loss of 2014.

On Sunday, 44-year-old rider Todd Libhart, from Pennsylvania, lost his life in an accident during the 65th annual Devil's Staircase Hillclimb event in Oregonia, Ohio. He was conscious immediately following the crash, but later succumbed to his injuries. Libhart raced for the Kreeger and Sons team with his brother Phil.

AMA released a statement on the tragic loss, stating, "AMA Pro Racing is saddened by the loss of Todd Libhart, an AMA Pro Hillclimb expert competitor who passed away Sunday, Oct. 12 following an incident during the 65th annual Devil's Staircase Hillclimb event in Oregonia, Ohio. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time."

Libhart was a licensed rider in both the Xtreme and Unlimited classes, having participated in professional Hillclimb events for half a decade. Just two months ago, 16-year-old Colin Krenzu also lost his life in a Hillclimbing event.
