Taurus Sports: Ready for action At Estoril.
Norwich, UK, Monday 7th April 2003: An all British line-up of Christian Vann and Justin Keen will drive for Norwich-based Taurus Sports at this weekend's first round of the FIA Sportscar Championship in Estoril, Portugal, and a podium place is seen as a realistic starting point for this new, yet highly experienced, outfit.
Having produced a creditable performance at Sebring against a world class field (16th from 54 starters), the team's Lola Judd B2K/10b, racing on Dunlop Tyres and in the hands of two quick and accomplished drivers, is expected to have the reliability and pace to be a Championship front runner.
Christian Vann, 28, a previous winner in FIA Sportscars, brings considerable experience to the team having raced in sportscars since 1997, driving for Marcos, Chamberlain and Kremer, amongst others.
Last week at Snetterton the team undertook its final shakedown before heading for Portugal and Team Proprietor Ian Dawson was pleased with the performances of the car and both drivers.
Ian Dawson, Team Proprietor and Race Director:
"From our experiences in Florida we know that the Lola Judd is a competitive and reliable car. We have rectified our Sebring electrical 'gremlins' and introduced several technical modifications to improve the performance of the car. At Snetterton both Justin and Christian were able to familiarise themselves with the new set-up and both were on the pace. I was particularly pleased that Christian, who had not previously driven the car, was able to post fast times so quickly into the session. We have received excellent support from Judd and Dunlop, who have provided us with a competitive package, and we start at Estoril in a strong position. In Justin and Christian we have two drivers who combine talent with experience, helping us to achieve our goal of a podium finish in Estoril."
