PROTOTYPE TECHNOLOGY GROUP BMW M3 TEAM - Press Notes for Sunday, June 28 Sprint PCS Grand Prix of Minneapolis - USRRC Can-Am/GT Race

PTG BMW M3s GO TWO-FOR-TWO ... WIN GT3 AND GT2 AT SPRINT PCS GRAND PRIX Ross Bentley and Mark Simo overcame a valiant bid by the 07 Porsche to take GT3 honors in the No. 10 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 four-door during today's 1-hour, 45-minute Sprint PCS Grand Prix of Minnesota, Round Four of the USRRC Can-Am/GT championship held on the downtown streets of Minneapolis. Meanwhile, PTG teammates Peter Cunningham and Brian Simo drove to the GT2 win in the No. 6 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 coupe. The wins kept the PTG team perfect for this season - 4-for-4 in Professional Sports Car Racing, Inc., GT3 races, 4-for-4 in USRRC-sanctioned GT3 races, and 5-for-5 in GT2 races involving both USRRC and SPORTS CAR events. It was also the team's 11th consecutive GT3 race dating back to last year's SPORTS CAR race at Pikes Peak. BMW M3s have now won 26 of their last 29 races.

MARK SIMO, No. 10 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 Four-Door (GT3): "The BMW M3 was just flawless today. Traffic was a little tough at the start, and the 07 Porsche clearly was fast from the get-go. Talk about (the USRRC) equalizing things (with extra weight on the BMW M3s in GT3 now totaling 340 pounds), they sure did it! But the PTG team gave us a great car. We had a perfect pit stop, and Ross and I could go out there and drive just as hard as we could to bring home another win. The BMW wasn't going to let us down today."

ROSS BENTLEY, No. 10 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 Four-Door (GT3): "The 07 Porsche was really, really fast today. I just did all I could to keep us close in the first stint, and then hand the car over to Mark (Simo) and hope for the best. I knew we'd get them (the 07 Porsche team) with a faster pit stop, and we had full confidence in Mark."

PETER CUNNINGHAM, No. 6 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 Coupe (GT2): "The BMW M3 handled really beautifully from the first lap of the first practice session yesterday morning. The PTG boys did just a super job dialing it in. We (Brian Simo) really had a lot of fun out there today just driving around Minneapolis. We came here to win and the whole team earned it."

BRIAN SIMO, No. 6 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 Coupe (GT2): "'Fun' is all I can say. These BMWs are just fun cars to drive. They are true driver's cars. Peter (Cunningham) did all the work today. He gave me the car with almost a lap lead. I just had to stay out of trouble."

SCOTT DONIGER, M Brand Manager, BMW of North America, Inc.: "If this weekend proves anything, it's that there truly is competition in GT3. We battled the 07 Porsche for the first hour of the race. But what it came down to was another total team effort, because we beat the Porsche on the pit stop by 16 seconds. Then, as soon as Mark (Simo) got in the car, he put his foot down and took care of business."

TOM MILNER, Prototype Technology Group team owner: "Another close one, after last weekend at Road Atlanta. Now it's obvious we can't put the power down like the Porsches with our 340-pound weight disadvantage. In my opinion, it's not fair to penalize excellence by adding weight to our cars. But we continue to prove that good teamwork and good drivers are tough to beat."

BMWs FINISH 2-3 IN SATURDAY'S SCCA WORLD CHALLENGE T2 RACE Hugh Plumb and Alain Chebeir drove their 328is race cars to second and third place, respectively, in Saturday evening's 28-lap SCCA World Challenge T2 event on the downtown Minneapolis street circuit.
