CRESSONI AND PAVONI ON THE PODIUM AT MAGIONE TOO

Double-faced exit at Magione for Racing Team Edil Cris in the second round of the Italian GT Championship. After the third place obtained in both qualifying sessions by Matteo Cressoni (1'10.538) and by Mattia Pavoni (1'11.034), the two races had different outcomes.

Race one did not live any particular twists, the track not favouring overtaking playing its part. Cressoni, in the first stint held the starting position keeping a minimal gap from the leader. Pavoni did the same but got into the second position after the driver change. The numerous time penalties, despite being of small entity, given by stewards to a lot of teams for not respecting the minimum travelling time through the pit lane set the final classification with Cressoni and Pavoni on the third place of the podium.

Race two had its moment at the second lap when Pavoni has been victim of an off-track excursion compromising the front part of his F430 Ferrari. The driver from Brescia, despite being a few positions adrift, concluded his stint but after the pit stop some technical problems due to the incident forced Cressoni first to a tyres change and afterwards to the retirement with two laps to go. The eight place in the final classification awards the crew with three points that might turn out useful for the championship.

Enio Bolsieri (Direttore Tecnico):

"The performance of our car has been top class both in qualifying and in race. On paper, Magione was not among the most suitable tracks for us and therefore I think that we did a good job, even if we did not harvest what we expected during the race".

The next round of the Italian GT Championship will be held at Mugello on 21 June.
