VALLELUNGA: GT AND SUPERSTARS ON MICHELA CERRUTI'S MENU
The most challenging weekend of Michela Cerruti is getting closer: starting from Friday, the young Italian driver will be on track at Vallelunga with team AeffeM-Romeo Ferraris both in the Italian GT Championship, in crew with Francesca Linossi, behind the wheel of a F430 GT Cup Ferrari, and in the Superstars Series on a C63 AMG Mercedes. In GT, after the good recoveries at Misano, Michela does not hide her ambitions to positions that count thanks also to the growing harmony with Francesca Linossi. She will most probably be involved with the second round of qualifying that will concede her more pause in between the sessions of the two championships.
In the Superstars Series Cerruti is currently at the lead of the rookies classification standing at eight points, two clear of Matteo Cressoni (Ferlito Motors); it will be crucial for her to get points in both races of the weekend to defend the leadership.
Vallelunga's track, located north of Rome, was built in 1951 from the transformation of a racetrack. In 1957, following a project by the driver/engineer Piero Taruffi (to whom the circuit is now dedicated) the tarmac track was built and in 1967 it became property of ACI (Automobile Club Italy). In the following years, a series of interventions were undertaken that inverted the circuit direction and involved the construction of the pits building. The circuit remained unaltered until 2005, when a new tower for race direction was built and run off areas were widened. A further kilometre of track was added to reach the current length of 4.085mt.
"Driving two different cars in the same weekend will require quite a mental and physical effort. Lately I have often talked about recoveries after the races : I'd like to start on the right foot this time since qualifying to set a different tactics. It is going to be easier in GT than in Superstars, but I would not mind getting points in both championships".
