Lancieri Did Well in the Italian GT with Ebimotors
Gabriele Lancieri's debut behind the Ebimotors Team's Porsche ended well with a sixth place finish in race 1 and a fifth place finish in race 2 in the N-GT Category. This good result that could have been better, if an adversary hadn't hindered the Lancieri/ Pigoli squad in race 2. Even if this was a first for Lancieri, he immediately got on well with his team-mate, his team and had a good feeling with the car. As proof we have the great start during race 1 when the driver from Imola overtook 5 opponents and was in second place behind his team- mate Riccitelli.
Then Chiesa's clumsy attempt to overtake Gabriele influenced the race. In fact Chiesa hit Lancieri's Porsche and bent his toe. The consequences of this accident were obvious: a tyres that was constantly brushing up against the wheel house, exploded and forced Pigoli to make a hasty pit stop. In race 2, Pigoli lost precious time on the pit lane due to a slow adversary. The precious seconds that he lost prevented The duo Pigoli & Lancieri from conquering a well deserved podium.
"To race with Massimo Pigoli and with a team that is so prepared like Ebimotors is a real pleasure. We could have fought for the podium but a contact in race 1 and reduction of speed on the pit lane in race 2, prevented us for conquering the podium.
However, I am very satisfied with how things went and the team even complimented me at the end of the race.
I pushed to the maximum during the race without ever being unsportsmanlike. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for other adversaries. But this is part of motor sports. I am now looking forward to the next two rounds of the FIA GT championship where I will be behind ten wheel of ten Saleen. I hope to get a good result at those rounds as well."
