MUGELLO: MICHELA CERRUTI THREE TIMES SATISFIED AT THE END OF THE DOUBLE COMMITMENT IN TUSCANY
Michela Cerruti's weekend at Mugello ended with a certainly positive outcome both in Superstars Series and Italian GT Championship.
The biggest satisfactions arrived from GT CUP: after the ninth row in qualifying one, her new crew-mate and Cerruti harvested a great fifth place. Even more thirlling was race two, that saw her figthing for the podium until the last meters despite some evident grip problems that relegated her to the fourth place under the chequered flag. The subsequent decision from stewards to penalyze the number 102 car, second at the finish line, gave the third place of the podium back to Cerruti.
In the Superstars, Michela brought the third exemplar of the C63 AMG Mercedes of team AeffeM-Romeo Ferraris, distinguished by an elegant silver livery, to its debut. Slowed down by some problems in qualifying that ended with the eighteenth place (2'03.917), the young Italian driver has been protagonist of a good recovery in race one that brought her up to the final tenth position, a result that awarded her with the first point of the season in the tri-coloured Series. A contact with an opponent ended early her race two during the second lap.
"I am three times satisfied: in GT we have been competitive in both races and the 'virtual' podium has been a good result, especially considering the problems emerged on the car in the last few laps. In Superstars, the new Mercedes behaved very well and in race two I would also have had the chance to score points but unfortunately my race ended faultlessly on a graveltrap. Finally, under the physical profile, I sustained the weekend without particular problems: I worked a lot in the gym to achieve this objective and I am very proud for achieving it".
The Italian Superstars Championship will be back on track next 29 August at Varano de' Melegari, while the next round of GT Championship is scheduled for 26 September at Vallelunga.
