Mok Returns to Take Pole in Round 5

The GT3 Asia Round 5 is expected to be intense with the return of Mok Weng Sun who claimed pole position for the race tomorrow. The Team Clearwater Racing driver set his best time of 2:08.242, less than 0.5 seconds ahead of Sri Lankan Dilantaha Malagamuwa.

The Dilango Racing Sri Lanka driver has changed machines once again, this weekend finally using his Lamborghini LP-560 to replace his Porsche 997 GT3.

Filling up row two will be two SPS Motorsport Lamborghini Gallardo with Siu Yuk Lung in third and Kevin Tse in fourth.

Hong Kong driver Byron Tong took fifth in his Ferrari F-430 when he set his best time of 2:11.555. He will be accompanied on row three by Frank Yu of Craft Racing in his Ginetta G50.

Yu's teammates, Samson Chan and Eric Cheung takes up row four ahead of current Championship leader, Tunku Hammam Sulong in his Lamborghini LP560 who qualified with the ninth best time of the day.

It will not be an easy task for Hammam to maintain his championship lead with the return of Mok up in pole position, Malagamuwa in his equally powerful LP560 and the three vastly improved Ginettas, even on his home soil.

GT3 Asia continues with Round 5 at 9.40am and Round 6 at 2.40pm on Sunday, 18 July 2010 at Sepang International Circuit.
