Clearwater Racing reveal their #1 GT Asia Series challenger for 2015
The new livery remains similar to the #3 car that claimed the title at Macau in mid-November.
Asia’s most successful GT team have unveiled their 2015 GT Asia Series challenger at Sepang Circuit in Malaysia, revealing a twist on the all chrome livery that served them so well in 2014, when Singapore’s Mok Weng Sun - the series most successful driver - claimed his third drivers championship in just his sixth season.
“We haven’t wandered too far from the all chrome livery of last season, but there are some subtle changes, many of which the Clearwater fans will notice immediately,” Arj Kulasegaram, Clearwater’s high profile team manager explained.

“We’ve stuck with the chrome and fluro mix, but added some more high-visibility yellow into the equation.”
Whilst the livery remains similar to the #3 car that claimed the title at Macau in mid-November, and the Clearwater team retains the Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 for one last year, there have been some notable changes over the off-season, including a change of partner for Mok, and a change in the number of cars that will run out of the Singapore-based outfit in 2015..
“We’ve elected to form a closer alliance with Ferrari this year, so will campaign just the two cars - the #1 for Mok, and the #12 for 2014 Rookie-of-the-Year Richard Wee,” Kulasegaram admitted.
“Hiroshi Hamaguchi will always remain a big part of the Clearwater family, however he has stayed with McLaren, and will run as part of a new team in GT Asia this year, and we wish him well, as for the name of Mok’s 2015 co-driver, that will be revealed at a later date.”
After assisting Mok to his third GT Asia Series title in 2014, Japan’s Keita Sawa has changed marques for 2015, joining Lotus F1’s development driver Adderly Fong in a new Bentley for the coming season, which means the #1 Clearwater Ferrari will have a new co-pilot..
“There has been no shortage of applicants,” Kulasegaram admitted with a broad smile.. “It’s one of the most coveted seats in Asia, and applicants have come from all corners of the world. We’ve pretty much made a decision on what we want to do, but we’re not ready to make an announcement just yet!”
The GT Asia Series is sanctioned by the FIA as an International Series and is clearly recognised as the Region’s leading GT Championship. It is jointly managed and promoted by Motorsport Asia Ltd and the Supercar Club Hong Kong.
