Team Modena Ready for Brands Hatch GT Action
Brands Hatch this coming weekend sees Team Modena make their second Avon Tyres British GT Championship appearance with their crowd-pleasing Lamborghini Gallardo. The car made its race debut at Snetterton last month and immediately showed its potential, and the two one-hour races on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit this weekend will provide the team with another opportunity to display the potential of the new GT3 specification Lamborghini.
"We've tested the car again and are very happy with the Gallardo," says Team Principal Graham Schultz. "We've made a lot of changes and to suit how we want to run the car and we are looking good for the weekend. We have to remember it is just the second meeting for the car, but we are looking for a good finish and we'll take what comes in the races."
Driver line-up for the two races will be Team Modena regular Antonio Garcia and Matt Owen, both of whom will be making their first appearance in the competitive championship. Hugely experienced Garcia has formed part of Team Modena's Le Man Series driver squad in recent seasons, twice having competed in the Le Mans 24-Hours race in the team's Aston Martin DBR9. Owen will be making his sportscar debut, but will be a regular in Team Modena's British GT campaign.
Having run as high as second place overall in its debut race in June before finally finishing fourth, the Gallardo returned to the Lamborghini Wycombe workshops and the team have worked hard to develop and refine the car ready for this weekend. In the dramatic Team Modena livery the car was a centre of attention at Snetterton - and should once more be a crowd favourite at Brands Hatch,
The weekend starts with a 75-minute Free Practice session on Saturday morning before two 15-minute qualifying sessions, one for each driver, at 13.15. The first race is scheduled for 16.50 that afternoon, with the second event at 13.55 on Sunday afternoon.
The 2007 British GT series is held over eight meetings at the UK's leading circuits. The highly competitive series sees the Team Modena Lamborghini up against cars from famous marques such as Ferrari, Aston Martin and Porsche in the competition for GT3 class honours.
Next British GT Race: Silverstone, England, August 11th / 12th.
