Ryan Hooker (Upminster, Essex) heads to the home of British motorsport, Silverstone this weekend for what looks set to be one of the highlights of the country's motoring calendar. Competing in Rounds 11 and 12 of the British GT Championship, Ryan will be once more at the wheel of the ever improving Team Jensen Corvette. After a trying start to the season, Ryan and the team have seen the American muscle car improve ten-fold and are confident that Silverstone will mark an important step in the Corvette's progress.

"This will be my first time driving the full GP circuit at Silverstone so that is obviously a very important and momentous occasion for me" Ryan tells us. "With its long straights and fast flowing corners I believe this will be the track where we can best gauge the Corvette's true potential. I am quietly confident of a good result."

After four strong finishes in the previous four rounds, the team will travel to Silverstone with a new team-mate to partner Ryan, Mark Jones. Mark, along with his father Bob, an engine specialist, will be welcome additions to the Jensen pit providing invaluable knowledge and expertise on the Corvette's 5.7l powerhouse and aiding Ryan and the team to gain maximum performance from the car.

As well as looking for further improvements on the track, Ryan is enjoying working at such close quarters with the team on all aspects of the car development and Team Manager, Jensen Lunn has recently been praising his young driver's abilities. "Ryan has been a credit to our team and a key player in the development of the car. He is always quick and his feedback is second to none" says Jensen.

The three day event at Silverstone features a packed racecard including the star race, the 6Hour Le Mans Endurance Series which features amongst others former F1 ace and Le Mans winner, Jonny Herbert, another Essex racing driver (Brentwood) whom Ryan very much hopes to emulate, his own ambition being to compete at Le Mans.

"I'm looking forward to our double header of races on Sunday" says Ryan, "but as a spectator I can't wait to see the LMES race on Saturday which features some of the world's best sportscar racers. Of course I'll be cheering on Jonny (Herbert) and hoping its good luck for all us Essex racers all the way!"
