Balfe Suffers Mixed Results On Home Turf

The Balfe Motorsport team suffered a mixed pair of results in the opening rounds of the British GT Championship at Donington Park this weekend (April 3/4).

The Newark Glass Group backed squad managed to bring its Mosler MT900R home in fourth place in the first race on Saturday afternoon, after calling a superb tyre choice at the start.

Balfe's driving partner Nigel Taylor made a fantastic start to get into fourth place after starting from twelfth position. Balfe took over from just before halfway and ran as high as third before coming under pressure from two Porsches and had to concede. Fourth place was the best the team could hope for at the chequered flag.

The second race brought worse luck for the team, with a its first non-finish of the season after engine problems sidelined Balfe early in the race.

"The first race result was the best we were going to get this weekend to be honest. The Porsches have been incredibly fast and we just have not been as competitive as last season," said Balfe.

"We will be taking a good look at what has happened to the car and get ready for our first race in Spain at the end of the month. After that, we will see what we can do to close the gap to the rest of the field." He added.

The team will next be in action at Albecete in Spain between 22 and 25 April.
