American GT Challenge Adds Hoerr Racing Products To Series Sponsors
Wilton, CT- The American GT Challenge has announced the addition of Hoerr Racing Products to the series lineup of sponsors. Hoerr Racing Products was founded in 1998 by road racing veteran Irv Hoerr, bringing 40 plus years of success in the auto racing industry to the company.
Hoerr Racing Products will establish the "Hoerr Charger" Award --"Tortoise to Hoerr" program in AGT. The program will award the driver with the greatest increase in track position from qualifying to the final race results, as well as maintain a points system to determine a season ending Hoerr Charger champion. The sponsorship package will include Hoerr Racing Products gift certificates and a trophy. Both will be distributed at each event and at the year end awards banquet.
Said Irv Hoerr of the program, "With the Hoerr Charger Award, we want to reward the guy that worked hard and didn't give up. I know that when I look at my trophy case the special awards bring back a lot of memories of the event they were from. The front of our catalog says "Be the Hare....Not the Tortoise!" and sometimes you need to go from the "Tortoise to the Hare" in one weekend. Whether you missed the set-up or had bad luck coming back for a good finish takes a lot of work on and off the track."
"Irv has been instrumental in bringing this series together. His experience in building and racing sedans in a number of different series provided invaluable input from both a competitor's perspective and a technical point of view. We were thrilled when we learned they were interested in supporting the competitors by providing contingency sponsorship. My personal experience with Hoerr Racing Products leads to an unqualified endorsement: not only is price and service excellent, Irv's experience provided solutions to any problem we could develop," commented Woodson Duncan, President of the AGT.
One of the founding goals of the AGT was to provide competitors with a stable environment to compete in where cost are contained. Irv Hoerr feels that objective is being met by the series. Said Irv, "The AGT Series will provide a fun and affordable place to race for the guys that love racing "American Built" tube frame race cars with horsepower and handling. Throughout the history of American Motorsports from short track stock cars, GT road racing to NASCAR the tube frame race cars have always provided the most affordable and controllable concept. The AGT Series is a step forward in bringing this concept back to pro road racing."
The series will announce a long-term series model to achieve the initiative of inexpensive racing. Stated Duncan, "As competitors use their current inventories and we move to our preferred package over the next two seasons we look forward to working with Irv, Bob Sharp, Bill Riley and Carl Wegner on sensible cost effective specs for these cars."
