Wilton, CT- Jack Busch [Leifert Motorsports/Spectro Oils / Spiral Turbo Baffles #05 Olds Cutlass] is ready for the excitement at Mosport. Busch will compete in the American GT Challenge event at Mosport for the Victoria Day weekend event, fractured ribs and all. Busch injured his ribs competing in a vintage race a few weeks back.
The team, which consists of owner Larry Leifert and Jack Busch, have been leading the Northeast Division SCCA National series for the last five years. The team holds most of the lap records in the GT-1 category.
Larry and Jack are referred to as the "two old guys in a pickup truck", because they don't have a big rig and do all the crew work themselves. They unload an eighteen year old ex-Trans-Am car and usually win. The car was a 1986 Protofab Camaro chassis that was Wally Dallenbach Jr.'s championship car.
Of his consistent top place finishes, Jack says, "It never occurs me that I can't win."
"We love the idea of AGT racing and plan to make as many races as we can afford," commented team owner Larry Leifert. "It looks like another good old IMSA style series starting up."
The Leifert Motorsports team will join a field of other GT-1 cars, all seeking that coveted top spot on the podium. The AGT event is scheduled for May 23 and will see entries contest for the fifty minute sprint race.
The American GT Challenge uses purpose built tube frame chassis cars, power by a V-8 & V-6 engine, with composite bodies, replicating series produced American touring or grand touring cars competing exclusively on Goodyear Racing Tires.
