NewGMparts.com Parts Director Michael King today awarded the Tough Break Award to American GT Challenge competitor Jack Busch for Jack's unfortunate late race mechanical issue at Mosport International raceway during the rain filled AGT race. Busch, who was contending amongst the top three lost his windshield wiper with just a short time to go in the event. The loss of the wiper forced Busch to slow for visibility reasons and he slipped to fourth in the final standings.
"Although we were unable to attend the Mosport event, we are very excited to be part of the AGT series for the 04-racing season," said King. "This is an exciting race series with endless possibilities for racers with tube frame GT cars to showcase their talent on a reasonable cost per race budget."
King is no stranger to the hard charging Busch, having competed against Jack in the SCCA GT-1 catagory. "Having raced with Jack Bush in GT1 since 1997, we are well aware of his determination and talent as a seasoned GT racer, and are pleased to present him with the first Tough Break of the race award from Newgmparts.com. It is unfortunate for anyone to suffer a mechanical failure so deep into a well-run race, and we hope that the $750.00 award from Newgmparts.com will help take the sting out," commented King.
The American GT Challenge uses purpose built tube frame chassis cars, power by a V-8 & V-6 engine, with composite bodies, replicating series produced American touring or grand touring cars competing exclusively on Goodyear Racing Tires. For more information visit www.americangt.com.
The American GT Challenge next stop is at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania on June 20th.
