Holtom Quickest in Mosport Practice

Bowmanville, Ontario- Following two practice sessions for the American GT Challenge, Jim Holtom [number 38 Scadapack Corvette] sits atop the time sheets with a best lap of 1:21.050. Holtom set the pace earlier in session one and improved his time in the second practice session.

"The day went pretty well," Holtom said. "We can go quicker, but we have some handling issues. A race car is never perfect."

With the local weather forecast predicting rain, Holtom will not mind a little moisture. "The rain is different. It could mix things up a bit," commented Holtom.

Fellow local driver Charlie Webster [number 95 C.J. Webster of Canada Corvette] ended Friday second in times with a lap of 1:22.724. Webster ended the session searching for a touch more speed and a faster lap time.

"We had a great day," Charlie indicated. "We need a gearing change, we are too short in gearing now. But unfortunately we don't have the required spares. SO I'll live with it."

Like Holtom, Webster will make an adjustment to the car's setup. "I can't get any forward bite. So we'll make a few changes and see what happens," said Webster.

"AGT is a tremndous group of guys. We are very happy to be here," offered Webster. "As always Holtom is fast. So we'll try and get a podium spot on Sunday."

Bruce Nesbitt [number 11 Orion Motorsports Dimension Bond Mustang] rounded out the top three after the practice sessions ended. Nesbitt expressed great respect for the local drivers who set the pace early in the weekend. Said Nesbitt, "The local drivers are beating me up. I need some more brave pills."

'This is a pure racetrack. You need some great car control," stated Bruce. "My hat is off to the local boys. There are some really good drivers here, good as any Trans-Am driver I have seen when it comes to putting the pedal to the metal."

The Orion Motorsports team will make a gearbox change prior to Saturday's session. Most likely a change to third gear will be required. "There is a lot of throttle needed here. It takes a serious commitment, I need to work up to it," commented Nesbitt.

SCCA GT-1 competitors Jack Busch and Tim Cowen completed their day inside the top five. Busch [number 05 Spectro Oils/Spiral Turbo Cutlass] will continue to work on a couple of corners in his search for more speed. Tim Cowen [number 75 Cowen Truck Lines Mustang] expressed that a little more track time and he will improve upon his performance.

The AGT will hold one additional practice session on Saturday then conclude the day with qualifying at 4:45PM. The American GT Challenge will race at Mosport International Raceway May 23rd, in Bowmanville, Ontario Canada May 23 at 1:30PM EST.

The American GT Challenge uses purpose built tube frame chassis cars, power by a V-8 & V-6 engine, with composite bodies, replicating series produced American touring or grand touring cars competing exclusively on Goodyear Racing Tires. For more information visit www.americangt.com.
