Klettwitz (Germany), 05.07.2009. [ADAC GT Masters] Pole-Position, victory and fastest lap: Christian Hohenadel was unbeatable at round eight of the ADAC GT Masters at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz! The 32-year-old German drove in Sunday's race to a start-finish-victory along with his teammate Toni Seiler (Switzerland) in their Callaway Competition-Corvette Z06.R GT3.
In Saturday's race, rain crossed the high ambitions of Hohenadel and Seiler. Due to heavy rain just before the race, starting driver Toni Seiler had to take the start in difficult conditions on a wet track. The 51-year old Swiss Sportscar veteran faced difficulties with the rain tyres and handed over the Callaway-Corvette on a drying track only in 13. position. In the second half of the race, Hohenadel chased trough the field and gained five places. He eventually finished eight when the chequered flag dropped after 60 minutes. "We had a good strategy and changed very early for slicks when the track dried. This was a good decision, because in the dry, our Corvette was one of the quickest cars. Unfortunately, the wet start cost us a better result", Hohenadel said after the first race.
For the second race on Sunday, Hohenadel started from pole. Right from the start, Hohenadel took the lead, protected from his team made Marc Hennerici in another Callaway-Corvette. Hohenadel immediately built a good gap on his pursuers. Until the very late pit stop for the mandatory driver change, Hohenadel had a solid lead of five seconds.
During a perfect pit stop, the second best stop of the entire race, Toni Seiler took over the Corvette for the remainder of the race. The highly experienced Swiss drove without any mistake and secured his and Hohenadels first win of this years season, beating the strong Audi R8 LMS of the Audi-DTM-Teams Phoenix Racing, Team Abt and Team Rosberg.
"Our car was absolutely perfect today,"Christian Hohenadel was happy with his second ADAC GT Masters overall victory in front of 14.500 spectators at the EuroSpeedway. "But the race was hard. With temperatures around 30 degrees and our late driver change, it was really challenging."
The next race of the ADAC GT Masters will take place on 21.08.-- 23.08.2009 at the Nuerburgring along with the Le Mans Series.
In the ADAC GT Masters drivers championship Christian Hohenadel is now on fifth position after his win at the EuroSpeedway.
