#24 Cauley Corvette GTR Presented by Highlander Working Out Gremlins
Watkins Glen N.Y. -- June 18, 2004 The #24 Cauley Corvette GTR presented by Highlander worked through some minor issues in the first day of practice for the 2004 Rolex Sports Car Series Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen. The event is scheduled for Sunday, June 20, 2004 at the historic Watkins Glen 3.4-mile, 11-turn permanent road course in scenic New York (SPEED Channel - Part 1, 11 a.m. ET, Part 2, 3 p.m. ET).
"We've been bit by a few minor glitches," said Crew Chief, Danny Kellermeyer. "The issues we're having are the type of things you run into when you run a partial schedule. The good news is the car and motor are sound. Friday's problem with the radiator didn't do any damage to the engine and everything tested solid. Fortunately, the computer threw the car into "limp-home" mode and saved us a lot of headaches."
Both drivers came in with strong impressions of the car.
"In the few laps I've done, I'm real pleased with the feel of the car," said Jeff Nowicki. "We're still taking it easy shaking things down, but the changes we made since Daytona feel great. I'm sure we'll have it comfortable by Sunday and Tom [Bambard] and I can concentrate on lap times and taking care of the car."
"I like how the car feels," expressed Bambard. "We had such crazy weather at Daytona, I'm enjoying just being on a dry track. I'm sure the guys will catch up with the little bugs we've had and we'll be ready for the six hours Sunday. I'm looking forward to it."
Both drivers have had a busy week making appearances at local Best Buy stores in Amherst, Rochester, Ithaca and Syracuse to promote the release of The Highlander, Xena and Hercules home video DVD box sets. The drivers will also make an appearance at BJAM Country Music Festival.
The #24 Cauley Corvette GTR presented by Highlander is driven by 1993 SCCA GT Champion and President of Specter Werkes, Jeff Nowicki of Birmingham, Michigan and NASCAR Craftsman Truck series driver, Tom Bambard of South Lyon, Michigan.
