SFOW Plans Two-Pronged Attack at Watkins Glen

DULLES, VA (June 15, 2004) -- The SFoW Maserati team, 2002 and 2003 Rolex Sports Car Series GT Champions, will return their Ferrari 360 GT to competition at this weekend's Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen. The Ferrari was last raced in the 2003 season. It will support the team's Maserati Trofeo Light GT, their contender for the 2004 Rolex GT championship.

The Maserati will again be driven by Emil Assentato, Joao Barbosa, and Steve Earle. This trio earned the Maserati's first GrandAm podium at the most recent Rolex Series race at Mont-Tremblant, finishing third after a long pit stop to replace a leaking water hose cost them a higher finish. Assentato and Earle are currently tied for sixth in the Rolex Series GT standings; Barbosa is in 13th place.

Three drivers, relatively new to GrandAm competition but with a wealth of Ferrari racing experience, will drive the 360 GT. Kurt Buchwald began in SCCA Club Racing, then switched to the SPEED World Challenge before joining the Ferrari Challenge in 2004, where he been a consistent top finisher. Jim Kenton joined the Ferrari Challenge in 1994, its first year. He has numerous wins in the series, including championships in 1996 and 2003. Jeff Segal honed his skills in BMW club racing before joining the Ferrari Challenge in 2003. He is another consistent top finisher, taking his first win in only his second race. In addition to his college studies, he is currently racing in the Formula BMW series.

Primary sponsorship for the SFoW Maserati team comes from Maserati of Washington. Additional support is provided by Simply Wireless, Inc., one of the nation's premiere wireless retailers; TubiStyle, the leading after-market supplier of exhaust systems for exotic cars; Putnam Leasing, one of the oldest specialty vehicle leasing companies in the United States; Tradition, a world leader in the brokerage of financial and non-financial products; and J.L. Earle, M.D., P.A. Orthopaedic Surgery.

The Ferrari 360 GT is sponsored by Ferrari of Washington, Nivea for Men, and Algar Ferrari.
