Team Sahlen Takes a Top Ten From the Glen Rolex Race
On a beautiful Saturday in late September, Team Sahlen took a top ten finish in front of the entire Indy Racing League and its fans at Watkins Glen International. The Glen's IRL weekend was kicked off with an exciting and caution filled Grand American Rolex race. Only two Team Sahlen Rolex drivers were present for the weekend but Joe and Will Nonnamaker celebrated a 7th place finish at the western New York track.
With this finish, Nonnamaker continues to hold the lead on the Bob Akin award. Nonnamaker has led in Bob Akin points for the majority of the Grand American Rolex season. Marc Bunting has been closing in on Nonnamaker over the last four races but even with Bunting's win at the Glen it was not enough to overtake the Team Sahlen driver.
"There is still VIR and Mexico left in the season. My goal for both of those races is to finish out strong. Our team has been very consistent in our performances during the last several races. We have had some excellent lap times and great pit stops. I did gain some points on the lead but I still have to run strong here at the end," stated Will Nonnamaker.
Team Sahlen will head to Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia the weekend of October 7th-9th for the final Grand American Rolex race on U.S. soil. The race will begin October 9th at 1:00 pm EST. For additional race information log onto www.GrandAmerican.com.
