Frisselles post best qualifying effort of the season
(23 September 2005)-- Burt and Brian Frisselle's RX.Com machine will line up fourth on the Crown Royal 250 grid on Saturday after Burt scored the team's best qualifying result of the season with a fast lap time of 1:45.600-seconds on the 3.4-mile Watkins Glen long course. The qualifying effort was even more remarkable given the fact that Burt had to deal with several slower cars during the quick fifteen-minute session.
"I had to pass another DP on each of my fastest laps, but I gave it everything I had out there and we just got faster every lap," said Burt. "The Synergy Racing guys gave me a really good car today, and I know that we will be even better in the race."
Before the fifteen-minute qualifying started, younger brother Brian was already brimming with confidence about the RX.Com machine's prospects, declaring that "...no matter where we qualify, we have a fast car and we know we can move to the front in the race."
After qualifying, Brian was feeling even more excited about a having a good race on Saturday.
"I'm really happy-we have such a good race car and now we have the chance to be starting close to the front, and don't have to battle our way through all the slower cars," said Brian. "Burt did a great job, and hopefully we can just get a good clean start and he turns the car over to me in good shape and we can be there at the end for a good result."
The young brother duo has kept their heads high this season despite several races with a severe absence of luck, and is looking to convert their confidence into some new hardware for their trophy case on Saturday.
"We will just settle in at the start, and try and get through everything clean," said Burt. "I don't really like starting on the outside here, but hopefully people will be smart at the start and we can get to racing, but I think we should be really strong."
Saturday's Rolex Sports Car Series Crown Royal 250 at the Glen will see the green flag wave at 3:00 PM ET, and will be carried live on Speed Channel.
