SIGAL AND ALHADEFF SCORE THEIR BEST SEASON RESULT SO FAR!
Los Angeles, August 14, 2005: Sigalsport team drivers, Gene Sigal and Matt Alhadeff scored a ninth place finish in GT at the CompUSA 200 at Watkins Glen. This promising result is the best season result so far for Sigalsport. The Rolex Sports Car Series is one of the most competitive series in the world of auto racing and finishing ninth for the Los Angeles, California based team is a good achievement.
This new top ten is the 13th top-ten finish in 18 races for Sigalsport since its inception.
"The team is getting better and better at each race" announced a delighted Gene Sigal after the race. "I am proud of the crew and my co-driver Matt Alhadeff. We are making progress with our setup and race strategy and my teammate, Matt, is also becoming a better driver since he is gaining racing experience and confidence in the car and in the team. There are five races left in the series and our goal is to maintain our progress and ultimately get closer to the top five finish" said Sigal.
Gene Sigal qualified the car 16th on Thursday and drove the Sigalsport Alhadeff Companies / Motul USA / The Speed Gallery / GlycoMax Porsche GT3 in the first stint. Thanks to a well-planned race strategy, the team was able to place as high as fourth during the race. At the last Watkins Glen event two months ago, the Sigalsport Porsche ran 5 seconds slower than the best GTs and last Friday, due to a better overall car preparation and setup and driver focus, the gap was reduced to only 2.8 seconds.
This proves that the team and the car are making progress, not bad considering that Sigal and Alhadeff don't have the racing background of the highest CompUSA 200 GT finishing drivers whose backgrounds include F1 and international series wins!
Matt Alhadeff drove the Sigalsport Porsche in the second stint and was very competitive and focused and determined to preserve his top ten position until the last corner of the race.
The Sigalsport team is now concentrating on the next Rolex Series round at Mid-Ohio scheduled for Saturday, August 27. Sigalsport has now finished preparing their second Porsche GT3 car for Rolex Series competition and is currently working on plans to enter a second competitive GT entry in the last four or five races of the season. On the driver's side, Matt Alhadeff and Gene Sigal, who both live in Los Angeles, are continuing their fitness program started a few months ago that includes daily training with a team personal coach and without a doubt, will be ready for the next racing challenge in two weeks.
