FINLAY PULLS DOWN QUICK LAP DURING QUALIFYING, STARTS 15th FOR TOMORROW'S RUNNING OF THE CROWN ROYAL 200
WATKINS GLEN, NY (August 10, 2006) -- The No. 5 Make-A-Wish/Z-Line Designs Ford-Powered Daytona Prototype was hooked up and hauling during the afternoon practice and continued to show impressive lap times during the scheduled 15 minute qualifying session earlier this evening. Michael Valiante and Rob Finlay shared driving duties during the three practice sessions that took place today.
Valiante set a quick lap during the last practice session that found the Make-A-Wish/Z-Line Designs sponsored machine sitting third quick for that session. Finlay knowing what the car was capable of, strapped in for qualifying and ran his quick time of the day laying down a lap at 109.024 an impressive half second quicker then his practice time earlier in the day. The Mooresville, NC based team will participate in the final one-hour practice session this evening.
The team's will then begin final preparation for tomorrow's running of the Crown Royal 200 at the Glen. The green flag is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start and will be televised by the Speed Channel at 9:00 p.m. ET.
Rob Finlay: "The car felt good during qualifying. I was able to pick up about a half second from the earlier practice session so I'm pretty happy with that. Given the circumstances I think the Make-A-Wish/Z-Line Designs car has a great shot at another top-10 finish tomorrow night."
Michael Valiante: "Rob did a phenomenal job during qualifying. He's really getting up to speed quickly. The car was third quickest before qualifying and I think we should have a great race car for tomorrow's race."
