Borcheller and Kelleners Finish 12th at the Glen In Kodak EasyShare DORAN JE4 Pontiac In Friday Night's CompUSA 200 Rolex Race
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y., Aug. 12 - Ralf Kelleners had the Kodak EasyShare DORAN JE4 Pontiac No. 54 up as high as third place in Friday night's CompUSA 200 Rolex series race at Watkins Glen International, but the Dusseldorf, Germany-based driver, his co-driver, Terry Borcheller of Gainesville, Ga., and the rest of the Bell Motorsports/Feeds the Need Racing team had to settle for 12th at the end of the two-hour race.
Kelleners started seventh but moved into sixth on lap 10 and he was fifth on lap 13. He took fourth on lap 15 when another front-runner was penalized, and third on lap 22 when Jorge Bergmeister pitted.
Despite some heavy pressure from the other front-runners, Kelleners remained in third place until lap 27, when he spun in turn one. He was able to continue but he was given a 15-second penalty when the series officials ruled that he made a dangerous re-entry into the field after regrouping.
He dropped from third to 15th with the spin and lost three more spots due to the penalty. He was still in 18th when he pitted under caution on lap 40 for Borcheller to take over.
Borcheller was up to 14th with a half-hour remaining in the race. A couple of other competitors ran into problems near the end and Borcheller was 12th at the checkered.
The race was broadcast on a same-day, tape-delayed basis on SPEED.
The next race is Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

Ralf Kelleners: "I just lost the rear in the corner; it happened in turn one. I spun and I had to look for a gap to rejoin the field, and the gap that I chose was too tight for the organizers, so I got a penalty."
Terry Borcheller: "Ralf ran a very good first stint. We were unfortunate with his spin and the timing of the yellow, and with so many yellows it was very difficult to make up many positions."
Forest Barber: "We had a great pit stop and a great driver change."
