FINLAY AND VALIANTE LOOK TO BREAK INTO TOP-FIVE IN ROLEX SERIES TEAM POINTS AT THE GLEN
MOORESVILLE, NC (May 31, 2006) -- With seven races in the history books and seven remaining on the 2006 Rolex Series schedule, Rob Finlay and Michael Valiante are right where they need to be. Finishing in the top-10 an impressive five times in the first half of the season and scoring an additional three top-10 finishes in the Grand American Rolex Series qualifying races, the drivers of the No.5 Make-A-Wish/Z-Line Designs team have proven that consistency does pay off. "The first half of the season has gone according to plan," explained Rob Finlay.
"Our goal has been to finish in the top-10 consistently and to be capable of challenging for the lead. We're currently sitting fourth in the Rolex Series team performance index and just outside the top-5 in the Rolex Series team point standings so if we can stick to the plan we should end up somewhere in the top- five by the end of the season.
Once again Guy Cosmo is part of the Finlay Motorsports team driver line-up, he has proven that he can help the team achieve results." The Mooresville, NC based team heads to Watkins Glen, New York this weekend to compete in the Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen, one step closer to achieving their ultimate goal. "I am looking forward to racing at Watkins Glen," said Michael Valiante. "I think the race will provide us with a great opportunity for Rob and I to stand on the podium. Rob is settling in and becoming very comfortable driving the Daytona Prototype and our results have begun to show that. The key to this event will be to keep our noses clean for the entire six hour race and bring the Make-A- Wish/Z-Line Designs machine across the finish line somewhere in the top-five."
