Darren Law and the Bodine brothers set to tackle Watkins Glen with the Grand American Rolex Series

Grand American Rolex Sports Car series standout driver Darren Law is ready for the upcoming Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen endurance event to be held at the historical Watkins Glen race complex in beautiful upstate New York, the weekend of June 20-22. Law will be piloting the G & W Motorsports 95.1 The Nerve/Sahlen's BMW powered Picchio Daytona Prototype, but with an exciting twist, as his teammates will be NASCAR regulars Geoff and Brett Bodine.

Says Darren of his well-known driving partners for the weekend, "I'm really looking forward both to the race and to spending some time with the Bodines. When I worked as a full time instructor at the Bondurant School I had several Winston Cup and Busch drivers as students, and those guys were always quick. I'm sure Geoff and Brett and will be just the same. It really should be fun."

The last race in California saw Law run with the leaders early on, but was forced to succumb to some mechanical issues in the form of an electrical glitch. The team is confident that they have the problem remedied for this upcoming weekend, and Watkins has always been a favorite track of Law's and one where he has had some great success.

In 2000 and 2001 Law won the GT class of the 6 hour endurance events at the Glen driving for G & W Motorsports in a Porsche. In 2002 he finished second in the GT class, and in that same year also set the pole-qualifying lap in the Grand Am Cup race.

"Watkins Glen just has so much history, and the track itself is both challenging and fun to drive and race on. It is a great combination of fast and medium speed corners as well as some nice elevation change. I suspect it will be the type of track that will play to the strengths of our Picchio, and I'm hoping we do well there."

Darren will again be pulling double duty, as he also will drive in the GSI class of the Grand Am Cup race with Chris Dyson in a G & W prepared Porsche GT-3 Cup car. Law and Dyson last drove together in the same car at the Barber 250 in May, and showed some solid competitive form.

"Most of our last race together was actually pretty good," said Law. "Chris was up to speed in no time at all, and now that he has some experience with the car we should definitely be in the running for the win."

Law will be in the Elmira area for much of the week prior to the Grand American weekend, making himself and the racecar available to the fans. Be sure to catch Darren on June 18th, between 10am and 3pm at Wisner Park in downtown Elmira, where he will be a part of the Grand American Prix-View party. The G & W Motorsports BMW Picchio will also be on display, and Darren will be more than happy to answer questions.

On Thursday, June 19th, Law will participate in a 3-hour go-karting enduro with a group of other Grand American rivers at KG slick track. The event is to be held between 7 and 10pm.
