João Barbosa and Perspective Racing Team ready to fight for a race win and championship lead at VIR 500.
Riviera Beach,FL. (August 25, 2002) - Fresh from their second place at the Grand American Road Racing Bully Hill Vineyards 250 at Watkins Glen, Perspective Racing's high-powered Mosler Racing team led by João Barbosa (this time joined by co-driver Michel Neugarten from Monte Carlo) now prepares for their participation in the VIR500, to take place from August 29-September 01 at Virginia International Raceway. The VIR 500 for the Rolex Sports Car Series is a 500-mile race (5 Hours/153 laps), and will begin at approximately 12:15- p.m. (with a 5-hour time limit). Barbosa and Neugarten will be racing #24 (GT Class), a Mosler MT900R run by Perspective Racing. The recent triumph at the Nextel 250 gave the MT900 its first-ever win in the GT class.
Joao Barbosa is looking forward to the race and to notch up another win, which will strengthen his quest for the Championship title. "VIR is an unknown circuit for me, and for the Perspective Racing Team," he comments. "It seems like a very interesting track - I'm confident that the Team and I can achieve a good result and challenge the Ferrari for a class win, as well as for the points lead in the championship." For this race Barbosa will be joined by co-driver Michel Neugarten, with whom he raced previously at the Rolex Daytona 24. "I believe that we can repeat the good work that we did at that race," Barbosa adds. " The team and myself are very motivated to win the race and the Championship, and we will fight to the end. We just have to hope that this time Lady Luck will be on our side."
