SunTrust Racing Team Seeks to Gain Points Lead at VIR

Alton, Virginia (September 28, 2004) - The No. 10 SunTrust Racing Pontiac Riley Mk.11 team of Wayne Taylor and Max Angelelli, currently second in the Rolex Sports Car Series Team point standings, hope to gain control of the points lead this weekend at the VIR 400 presented by SunTrust. They trail points leaders Scott Pruett and Max Papis in the No. 01 CompUSA Lexus Riley by just eight points, after the SunTrust team's second place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Wayne Taylor sits just behind Pruett and Papis in the Rolex Driver's point championship by eight points as well.

"We're in a very good position now," said car owner/driver Wayne Taylor. "Just eight points out of first place in both the team and driver's championship is an unbelievable place for us to be in our first year with a new team and car. It shows the hard work and dedication everyone associated has put into this effort. We're not there yet, but we're a lot closer with just three races remaining."

"We are going to have to keep battling with the other Daytona Prototype teams to stay at the top. It is very competitive racing and you can't rest for one minute," said co-driver Max Angelelli. "I have tested at this track many times, but it is the first time racing here. I believe it will be a pretty difficult race. It will be a good challenge. We have been very competitive so far. I would be surprised if we are not competitive at VIR."
