POSITIVE PACE FOR ORRCON PAIRINGS

Larkham -- Orrcon Racing is confident of being a strong performer in tomorrow's Super Cheap Auto 1000 with their driver pairing of Jason Bargwanna and Mark Winterbottom being the 11th fastest driver combination after qualifying.

"It is pleasing to know we are amongst the front guys when you combined the times set by myself and Frosty (Mark Winterbottom) over the weekend so far," said Jason Bargwanna.

"The biggest aim for us now is to get through the first half of the race without too many dramas and put ourselves in a position where we can be a serious contender inside the top ten over the final few hours.

"I believe that we realistically could have been inside the top ten if the track stayed dry yesterday but it didn't and we missed the opportunity and have a little bit more work to do than we would have liked.

"We have some small set up issues with the Orrcon Falcon but overall we are both very happy with the set up and confident of a good result."

Just as impressive when combining the times set by each driver pairing is the fact that Alain Menu and Matt Halliday were the 20th fastest pairing after qualifying yesterday.

Criag Lowndes will start on pole position with fellow Ford driver Marcos Ambrose alongside. Greg Murphy and Mark Skaife will start from the second row.

Tomorrow's 161-lap race around the 6.26km Mount Panorama circuit will begin at 10:00am. Network Ten's coverage of Australia's great race begins at 7am.
