CONSISTENCY CONTINUES TO PAY OFF FOR ROB FINLAY AND MICHAEL VALIANTE
MOORESVILLE, NC (April 19, 2006) -- Four races into the scheduled fifteen race Rolex Sports Car Series season, Rob Finlay and Michael Valiante currently sit in fourth position in Grand American Rolex Series team points. The driving duo finished an impressive 11th overall at this year's running of the Daytona 24 Hour race and has continued to quietly move up in the points.
With two top-10 finishes in-a-row, Homestead placing fifth and Long Beach sixth, the No. 5 Make- A-Wish/Z-Line Designs-sponsored machine looks to continue this streak at this weekend's running of the Virginia International Raceway 400.
"After two great finishes in Homestead and Long Beach, Rob and I are sitting high in both the team and driver standings," said Michael Valiante. "After breaking into the top-five, we are now looking for a podium finish in Virginia."
Valiante's teammate, Rob Finlay will be extremely busy this weekend. Not only will he be driving the No. 5 Daytona Prototype machine but he will also be competing in the Grand Am Cup race on Saturday with Michael McDowell.
"This will be a very busy weekend," said Rob Finlay. "We've had some really good finishes with the Make-A-Wish/Z-Line Designs Ford-powered Crawford and we hope to keep it going at VIR. I will also be driving the No.15 Ford Mustang with McDowell this weekend; we were on the podium in our first outing at Daytona and hope to do the same on Saturday."
Practice for the 250-mile/77-lap/2 ¾-hour time limit race begins on Friday, April 21 at 9:30 a.m. with qualifying to take place on Saturday at 1:15 p.m. The Virginia International Raceway 400 will be covered live on the Speed Channel and is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start.
