Law, Donohue, and Brumos Porsche Show Competitive Form at Grand American Rolex VIR 400
October 5, 2004 Phoenix, Arizona - After running as high as 2nd during this last weekend's Grand American Rolex Sports car series VIR 400 at Virginia International Raceway, a 15th place finishing position was scant reward for the hard work that Rolex series regulars Darren Law, David Donohue and the entire #58 Red Bull Brumos Porsche crew had put into the 3 hour endurance event. A lengthy pit stop to repair a broken suspension piece due to contact with an SGS class car on lap 53, dropped the hard charging Brumos effort several positions down the running order.
Law, who qualified the car 5th with a lap of 1:46.958 around the 3.27 mile challenging natural terrain road course, made the most of his starting stint in the brilliant blue Red Bull machine. Law's familiarity with the circuit made itself evident as he kept pace with the front group.
"We definitely had a good first stint," said Law following the event. "I just drove as hard and as cleanly as possible, and tried to keep the car in a good position for when David took over. It was a tough race because of the amount of traffic on a tight fast track. It made it really hectic."
The Red Bull Brumos Porsche team meets with the rest of the Grand American Rolex Daytona Prototypes at this upcoming weekend's Porsche 250 Presented by Bradley Arant at the technical and immaculately prepared Barber Motorsports Park outside Birmingham, Alabama. The #58 car qualified on pole last year in the hands of David Donohue, and Law is hopeful for a good weekend.
"We only have a couple more races this year," said Darren. "I know that David and I are going to trying our best to get some good finishes out of them. I like Barber a lot, and I think we can have a decent showing there."
