Gleason and His Teammates Finish 10th in GT Class In Sunday's Rolex Series Race at VIR

ALTON, Va., April 23 - Johnstown, Pa.'s Chris Gleason and his teammates, Joey Hand of Sacramento, Calif. and Jeff Altenburg of Ellicott City, Md., finished tenth in the GT class in Sunday's Rolex Series race at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR). They drove the Matt Connolly Motorsports BMW M3 No. 21, which is sponsored by BMW of Towson, Md. and Gleason Financial.

Gleason drove the first stint of the 77-lap, two-hour-and-45-minute race that was televised live on SPEED. He kept the car in the top 10 during his stint, even though his shoulder was bothering him. He pitted under the first full-course yellow that occurred after two Daytona Prototypes crashed, and he didn't drive anymore in the race.

Altenburg was behind the wheel when the car had contact with the No. 66 Porsche on lap 53. "I got an apology later, but it didn't help much," Altenburg said afterwards.

Still the team persevered and the entry finished on the same lap as the eighth- and ninth-place cars, which were both Porsches.

Their sister car, the Matt Connolly Motorsports BMW M3 No. 24, finished right behind them in 11th place. That car was driven by the team owner, who lives in Bethlehem, Pa., and Adam Pecorari of Aston, Pa.

Andy Lally of Dacula, Ga. and Marc Bunting of Monkton, Md. won the GT race in a factory Pontiac GTO.R.
