KASPER ANDERSEN JOINS STARWORKS!
PROMISING DANISH DRIVER, KASPER ANDERSEN, JOINS STARWORKS MOTORSPORT
Danish racecar driver Kasper Andersen joins Starworks Motorsport and will drive the # 7 Starworks Motorsport Dinan-BMW Riley with Bill Lester starting next week at Barber Motorsports Park.
It will be the first racing experience for Kasper Andersen in North America and his first start in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16.
Andersen started his racing career in 2000 and within three seasons won multiple Karting titles before joining the ranks of the Formula Renault championship where he raced with success between 2004 and 2006. In 2004 Kasper became Nordic Formula Renault champion. Between 2007 and 2009, Kasper competed in the International Formula Master, a very competitive European open-wheel series, scoring multiple wins and podium finishes. In 2006 he also drove some races in the Euroseries F3000 scoring a podium finish at Spa, Belgium and last year he also participated in a SuperLeague Formula program for FC Midtjylland scoring a 3rd place finish at Jarama, Spain.
At 25, Andersen, a resident of Silkeborg, Denmark, has already accumulated impressive experience and is considered to be a very promising driver. Starworks Motorsport team is eager to start working with him at the track next week.
"I'm very excited to join Starworks Motorsport" announced Kasper Andersen. "It will be my first race in America and I can't wait to get started. Starworks showed great potential at Homestead and I hope we can develop that process in the coming races. I tested with the team at the Rolex 24 At Daytona open test and since that experience I wanted to go back and race in America again. I didn't get too many laps but I got to know the car a bit, and made some decent lap times."
"Daytona Prototype racing in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 is completely different than European open wheel racing. For sure it will take a bit of time to get used to how things work in Grand-Am. In some ways it feels like a lot more fun and a bit more relaxed than what I am used too." added Andersen.
Peter Baron is pleased to have Kasper Andersen driving his # 7 Starworks Motorsport Dinan-BMW Riley machine.
"Kasper had a very good test with us at Daytona and I am happy that he selected Starworks Motorsport to accomplish his first races in North America" announced Starworks Motorsport team principal, Peter Baron. "I know that Kasper's early European open-wheel experience is going to be a big plus in his success here in the United States and with Bill Lester, they should deliver some fantastic results" added Baron.
