MEMO GIDLEY AND GUY COSMO QUALIFY ON 7th ROW FOR TOMORROW'S RUNNING OF THE INFINEON 250
SONOMA, CA (August 25, 2006) -- Guy Cosmo, with very few laps behind the wheel of the No.19 Playboy/Uniden/Palms - sponsored Daytona Prototype machine pulled off a quick lap towards the end of the session qualifying on row 7 for the Infineon 250. Cosmo filling in for Michael McDowell had very limited track time because of an electronic problem with the car during the last practice session. The team was unable to make the necessary repairs on the pit lane and unfortunately lost nearly the entire session.
"That was really disappointing," said Guy Cosmo. "I was extremely excited about qualifying this car, but unfortunately we lost an entire session because of a problem with the electronics and just didn't quite have the car dialed in. We're just going to have to play it smart tomorrow and carefully move our way up through the field. I'm confident that Memo and I will be able to pull off a top-10 finish tomorrow afternoon."
Memo Gidley a Novato, California resident spent most of yesterday behind the wheel of the familiar orange and black machine practicing for the 250-mile contest.
"We didn't really qualify where we had hoped to but the race is almost three hours long so we'll get back up there," said Memo Gidley. Guy (Cosmo) did a great job with what he had it's just too bad we lost that session."
Race No. 13 of the scheduled 14-race Grand American Rolex Series Presented by Crown Royal Special is scheduled to get underway at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow.
