Burrows 4th on Watkins Glen Grid; Race-winning defense off to a fast start

Watkins Glen, NY (5 June 09)--Adam Burrows will start Friday's theglen.com 200 from 4th on the Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge grid after pushing the No. 198 Fischer Skis MINI Cooper to a fast lap time of 2:10.778-seconds around the 3.4-mile long course at Watkins Glen International. Burrows will open the 2.5-hour race before turning the controls over to fellow KONI Challenge Champion Trevor Hopwood to take to the checkered flag.

The duo scored a dramatic breakthrough victory at the famed upstate facility in their last race visit to the track together in 2008 as they ascended to the top step of the podium following their maiden KONI Challenge victory. With a strong starting position and a long-developed fondness for the track, the two are hoping to close out the day with an even stronger race result than the 6th place finish the two took in the last round at Lime Rock Park.

"It was a pretty good lap even though I got held up a bit by traffic on my fastest lap," said Burrows. "But I'm not sure that it would have made enough of a difference to get us up on the front row. This race weekend was a big highlight for us last year, and hopefully we can just keep building on what we did at Lime Rock and bring the RSR Motorsports guys a good result this afternoon."
