Burrows and Hopwood Looking For More at Watkins Glen
Duo return to site of maiden Continental Tire race victory following season-best fifth place finish at Lime Rock Park
Watkins Glen, NY (3 June 2010)--Fresh from their season-best result of fifth in the No.12 Kia Motors/Infinity Audio Kia Forte Koup for Kinetic Motorsports, Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood will look to keep that momentum going this weekend with more time out front in the Continental Tire 150 at Watkins Glen for round six of the 2010 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge championship.
The upstate New York facility is not only a classic road racing track, but it is also a place that is close to the former champions hearts as the two broke through to take thier maiden Continental Tire victory there in 2008. Last season saw another competitive outing from the two as they fought through mixed conditions to score 4th on the grid and 5th at the finish.
"It's great to get the chance to race just a week after such a strong weekend at Lime Rock Park," said Hopwood, who is also closely watching his favored Celtics fight for the title in NBA competition. "Given that this is their first year and all the hard work that the team and the Kia factory are putting into this effort, leading the first laps for Kia was an honor. We know we are going to have ups and downs with such a new program, so we have to appreciate the breakthroughs when they come and keep working for more--like leading the last lap."
The race will mark the back end of a quick turn-around, as round six quickly follows the Lime Rock park weekend with a promoter test day on Thursday ahead of practice and qualifying on Friday for Saturday's 10:15 AM race start.
"I'm excited to be going back to Watkins Glen immediately after such a positive weekend at Lime Rock, and hopefully we can have another glitch-free event," said Burrows. "The Kinetic guys have consistently been giving us a great car and I'm hoping that the Forte Koup will be even better suited for the Glen. Kinetic has continued to move the mark up every weekend, and we just want to focus on keeping that momentum going and learning as much as we can to have a strong car for the finish on Saturday."
