Burrows Takes Tenth on VIR Grid
23 April, 2010--Adam Burrows qualified the No. 12 Kia Forte Koup 10th at Virginia International Raceway on Friday afternoon as the Kinetic Motorsports Kia program continued to build momentum. As part of the automakers rapid growth in the North American market, Kia has made a significant commitment to the motorsports program and 2010 marks the brands first season of top-line auto racing in this market.
After Burrows and co-driver Trevor Hopwood brought the Koup its first race finish at Daytona International Speedway in its very first start, the next round of competition brought another new benchmark as both Kinetic Motorsports team entries finished the race at Homestead Miami Speedway. A "home" race at Barber Motorsports Park marked yet another move forward after the team scored a breakthrough top ten result as both Koup entires once again took the checkered flag.
The top-ten qualifying for Burrows on Friday showed yet more progress for the program on a track where he and Hopwood have some fond memories, including two podiums in the last three years at the track.
"The car felt great--better than it's ever been so I'm very excited about the progress the Kinetic guys have made in such a short time," said Burrows. "I feel like I got everything out of it that I could have today. If I'd had a draft on the long back straight, we could have easily dropped into the 2:11's but, I pretty much had a section of track to myself out there. Barber was big step forward and so far this weekend we've just kept that going and I think 10th is a good demonstration of that progress. Now we just want to keep moving forward with a good race result again tomorrow for all the work the Kinetic guys have put into this."
